Day Dreaming of a BAND :)

As I am sitting here eating my yummy lunch, I am DAY DREAMING about what life will be like once I get this awesome tool INSIDE me called a band!

I do this often, day dream that is! :) About what I will be able to eat, what will work best for me, how often will I need a fill, how fast or slow will I loose weight, the list can go on and on!

So today I would like to know from you beautiful ladies what are TOTAL no go foods? What are some foods that you know with out even having to try that they just don't work for you! I know everyone and every band is different, but let me daydream ya'll!!!!!!!!

Leave me comments / suggestions / themes for band friendly day dreams!

I've had 4 fills and thus far, I can eat everything. The only way I can really tell I even have a band is that I really am satisfied with much less food (which I have to use my self control to tell myself 99% of the time) and if I have a sip of anything carbonated, it pretty much comes right back up. That's all I've noticed so far. I assume with further fills I will notice that some foods are more difficult than others, but so far, I can eat everything. And I have just over 6cc's in my band, I believe.

Hope that helps with the daydreaming, but I bet it doesn't because I know you're hoping to hear that you are going to be super limited as to what you can eat. Sorry...that's just not the case with me, but we all seem to be different :)

Left over chicken or pork chops, or steaks...are a NO GO!

Sometimes the weirdest things get stuck. Banana's for example. I have to eat them very slow and can only eat about half.

Thanks girl! I like to daydream about anything band related! So THIS was very helpful! :)

i haven't come across any food that are absolute no-no's....shrimp didn't go down very nicely, but didn't get "stuck" a few times i get a little "traffic jam" (and that can be on anything that i drink or eat too fast) but it passes fast

My first fill is on Monday and so far...I can eat just about anything! I do have some problems it seems with hard boiled eggs. Maybe because they are so dry? Banana's also seem to go slow but they go.

It is weird, but I cannot eat anything doughy in the moring....pancakes, bagels, etc. They always get stuck and have to come back up. Ground beef is another that is just hard for me to eat, so I stay away from it.

:) Loving this! Thanks ya'll!!!

Oddly, I can eat cole slow "while" I am making it, but once it has set for a while in the fridge, forget it! I don't eat cole slaw any more except I've found that the finely ground type with a sweet/sour dressing (no mayo) goes down fine.

I can eat most anything else with one-off exceptions (like I could eat steak last week, but maybe today it won't work).

I've had some trouble with regular bread. But I get my first fill today, so we'll see. I try everything!

So far, in trying new things and seeing how it's going, steak has been my only "issue". And it was a ribeye. On the other hand, tenderloin was just fine. The ribeye went down but it was slow and painful. I did not like the feeling and seem to be losing my craving for steak anyway, so I think I'll just tend to stay away from ribeyes.

I know some of my concerns were not being able to eat sushi. I cut the pieces further in half, though, to get the size more reasonable and then ate the thinner slice in multiple bites to see how it would do. I tried it and it was fine. Another one was soda. Sodas are going down fine but are causing me to burp just a little more than I did pre-band. To be honest, though, those burps actually feel kinda good - getting more air out of the lower stomach, is what it feels like.

That's what I've found so far...

Leftovers are a big no-no for me. I find that if meat (pork, steak, etc) are too dry then I have problem with it. I was suprised that if the meat is cooked and it's tender and not dry it goes down just fine.

I also think what you can eat depends. If you try something and it does get stuck, try it again later on. I wasn't eating pork at all after one episode of being stuck but now I don't have problems with it if I take small bites and chew really well.

Ham...the one time I tried it (not the sandwich kind but actual ham) it was not a great feeling going down. Good thing I only eat that at Thanksgiving :) I can not eat fruit with the exception of grapefruit in the morning (sometimes) and an occasional banana. Other than that- I can eat EVERYTHING!! I was hoping that I couldn't eat bread or pasta...lol

Awesome! I was wondering about these things too.
Im being banded in less then 2 weeks so I will keep these in mind.

Sounds like leftovers are a no no.

Hi Mary!! Thanks for the message! You are so sweet.
There are a few things I can not - nor do I want to eat.
#1 Bread - or anything with flour in it. (incl. cake/brownies/cookies)
#2 Re-heated meat of ANY kind.
#3 Sandwiches - see #1
#4 Chips - they stick for me, but for others they are sliders.
#5 Eggs
#6 ANYTHING other than liquids before 11:00 am.
I'm at my sweet spot so none of the above applied until then - Just FYI
Great question and happy day dreaming!
Hugs and Loves to ya!
Jen

My "oh hell no" foods are: deviled eggs (turn into cement in my "stoma"), bagels or any soft breads (even english muffins are pushing it), peanut butter and pasta. I've tried with all of them and then I get almost instantaneous chest pain and I know it was a bad decision. Also, if I eat standing up, it always seems to get stuck, but maybe the fact that if i'm eating standing up, it means I am rushing myself...I have had no issues with any sort of meat. I eat grilled chicken, beef and pork ALL the time. No issues, except if I take that one bite too many.

Thanks guys these are really helping!!!! I know the question may sound silly, but to someone like me who is NOT banded and waiting and WAITING it helps to think about these things. Thanks agian ya'll!!!!

Mary thanks for asking about this, I was thinking the same things in my "daydreams".

Im with some of these other ladies on here with the bread issue! Its a big no-no sometimes for me. I love Subway but sometimes that thick bread gets stuck going down...its so frustrating! Other times it will go down fine. I think my problem is not chewing good enough and eating too fast...that is definitely something I need to work on!!

Question...are you going to Chicago?!

Mary said...

Hi Kristen! No I will not be able to go to Chicago :( (big sad face!) I planned mine and my husbands "vacation" to disney world in July, I am suppose to be getting banded in August or early September, so I won't be able to swing it with work and everything!!!! I know ya'll are all supper sad that I won't be there! ;) I would have LOVED to room with you or Kim if I could have been able too go! :( (big sad face again!)

I remember those day dream days. It's weird because I'm where I wanted to be so badly, and as long as it seemed to take, it was actually really fast.

There isn't anything I can't eat! I'm happy about that. Somethings I have to chew slowly, and some days there are foods that just aren't going to happen, but the overall picuture- I eat just a little bit of everything, and it is fantastic.
